Facebook timeline drawback

Its share price is falling, critics are circling and the stock floatation was mess.

But engineers at Facebook have been fighting back, by tweaking its unpopular Timeline profile page feature.
The ‘new look’ even changes Facebook’s famous ‘Likes’ to ‘Favourites.’

The social networking website has begun superimposing a person’s biographical details in white on their cover picture instead of putting them below.

It has also removed some photos from the home page and changed ‘likes’ to a new term – ‘favourites’.
The ‘streamlined’ look is supposedly more use friendly and easier for people to read, but has already been ridiculed by many users.

Timeline was introduced in December last year and has proved controversial ever since.
It is designed to show a person’s entire life from their birth your birth until today in one view, but users have complained it is overwhelming and confusing to use.
Only a month after the launch a poll found that 86 per cent of people hated the new changes, the equivalent of 688 million people.

Facebook has repeatedly claimed that it will force users to switch from the old layout to Timeline but has yet to enforce it.

Under the new changes the photo icons that sit under a user’s main picture next to tabs marked friends, photos and maps have been removed.

There is also a new button called ‘summary’ which brings together the major events of a person’s life on one page.

The changes were first noticed by blogger Carl Franzen who said it ‘creates subtle but noticeable changes to the top of user profiles’
